Rest of the year and when it's over

Just to clarify because I have been asked "the rest of the year" does mean the next 12 months from the successful end of the fundraising campaign.

In addition should you not use up the full amount that you purchased in that time then the money left will still be store credit it's just that the discounts will expire.

Buy one get one free

Several people have asked this question so I thought I'd make comment about it to help clarify the offer.

Yes you can buy multiples of 'buy one get one free'.

Buy one get one free is a 50% discount in effect but it comes with strings attached. These are that it entitles you to have duplicates made but they have to be the same size, same paper at the same time as the original qualifying print.

So why go for the larger amounts with lesser discounts? Because they have much greater flexibility. You can use those for any print in any size, paper and quantity over the year. It's about flexibility. It's like are buying a credit at a store to use any way you like.

We are fine art giclée printers and we're selling our future printing capacity now, in bulk amounts for substantial discounts.

The idea behind the project is to raise funds for new equipment, to improve our business by extending what we can do and by allowing us to do what we already do—only better.

We have great printers, but want to buy better finishing equipment, better image-capture systems and more computers so that we can offer a greater range of services. With new equipment more of us can work on our customers orders, thereby making us faster and more responsive.

To raise the necessary capital to invest in ourselves, we are selling our future printing capacity now—in bulk amounts—and offering customers substantial discounts in return for buying from us in advance. Buying a voucher now will entitle you to bulk level discounts usually reserved for customers buying large amounts at one time. So, for example, paying for $600 of printing now will get you $900 worth of printing when you are ready to proceed. But that's not all—unlike bulk order customers—you can use your voucher:

  • at anytime over the next 12 months, once or spread over the year.
  • in small or large amounts, buy one print or buy many.
  • for many different prints, on different papers, of different sizes, in the quantities you desire.

These discounts are offered in place of our usual discounts. They are better because the usual discounts are offered only on multiples of a single print when it's printed on a single size and paper all at once. These give you much greater flexibility as you can use it for any print, on any paper, in any quantity at any size we normally print.

We are dedicated to helping you to make and sell prints

These discounts are particularly ideal for the following;

  • Artists regularly selling prints whether online or in fairs. You know you will sell but can't predict how many or which works. So buy a block of printing and use it up as each new print order comes in.

  • Artists with forthcoming shows or who need to produce a body of work. Pay the printing costs now and get substantial discounts, easing the cost of creating your work when the need arrives.

  • Galleries and others wanting to sell editions who need to create stock and have prints for promotion and display. This will make that initial investment cheaper and more flexible.

  • Artists who just want to save money on their future printing costs. Pay now and buy more for the same cost,

In addition we are offering training, photography and technical assistance to artists. We have training opportunities at various levels from digital printing workshops to photoshop 'one-on-one'. We also offer a day of photography or lastly printmaking where you can work with one of our staff to develop your prints with our assistance, pulling multiple proofs until the work is ready.

These are just some of the ways in which this deal can be mutually beneficial, we get capital to expand and our customers get a break. It's a win-win and we hope will be the foundation of many great relationships.

About Skink Ink Fine Art Printing

Skink Ink Fine Art is a fine art print studio, editions publisher and gallery in Williamsburg Brooklyn. We specialize in Giclée or Archival Pigment Prints, which are wide-format archival inkjet prints. We have been working in Williamsburg for almost a decade but took the current space and name in 2010.

Skink Ink was founded by Philip Riley who is the lead artist and printer. A digital artist himself, he trained as a fine art painter/printmaker at Central St. Martins, in London in the 1980's. He has both shown in galleries and worked in them ever since. Starting as a gallery technician, then gallery manager, later he ran a gallery for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, showing many young up-and-coming artists who went on to achieve major awards such as the Turner Prize.

There is a large technical component to digital printing and it requires a very strong grounding in both the equipment and the software required. This experience Philip gained early on as a commercial photographic printer, then later through over a decade of working in professional graphics in New York City as a designer and a photo-retoucher. Sub-careers launched specifically to gain these skills. His expertise is therefore the culmination of several lifetimes' experience in diverse creative fields, drawing together strands of commerce, techne and pure creativity.

At Skink Ink we employ artists and we work primarily with artists who need our help to make their art. There is much on offer to those who work with us beyond just technical competence, we have a sensibility that is; knowledgeable, attuned to the subjectivities of art, and committed to the discipline of making prints as good as they can be. Why? Because it's what we love to do.
