Ready-to-serve Vietnamese dipping sauces, from Brooklyn with love.

We're growing! But we still lug around all our equipment in the backseat of our car. We're looking for a cargo van that will help us grow our wholesale business and get us to market

We're a brother and sister team, Ken and Toan Huynh, and we founded Saucey Sauce Co. just over a year ago. We make traditional Vietnamese sauces with a twist. We make nuoc cham based off our mom's recipes. Nuoc cham, at its most basic, is a combination of lime juice, fish sauce and sugar, and we make lots of variations with garlic, hot peppers, and other variations. It's endlessly versatile and amazing with all kinds of food -- grilled meats, spring and summer rolls, noodles, rice dishes and more.

We came up with the idea to start making and selling nuoc cham after we hosted a dinner party and got rave reviews from friends -- and lots of requests for samples! We've always loved these flavors that we grew up with, so we thought it might be nice to bring them to the rest of the world.

We've had an amazing first year of business where we've grown quickly and learned a lot. We both work 7 days a week and do everything ourselves -- but we love doing it! Ken runs the production while Toan is the kitchen captain. We make the sauce ourselves, pack it, ship it, and sell it at markets. It's a lot of work, but it's a labor of love. You can find our sauces now at retail stores around New York, such as the Gourmet Guild, By Brooklyn, The Greene Grape, the Williams Sonoma artisans' market and more, and we're also at the Hester Street Fair in the Lower East Side.

These recipes are a source of pride and family tradition to us, but they're also a way for us to promote Vietnamese food to the broader public. Nuoc Cham is an essential part of Vietnamese cuisine, but it's still new to many Americans. With luck, we hope to see our sauces on kitchen tables across the country in a few years!

Why We're On Smallknot

We're looking to raise $3,000 for a van to help us better distribute our product to markets in New York. We've been delivering everything ourselves in the backseat of our car, but it's getting to be impossible. We'd love to be able to upgrade to a full size van that would allow us to get our sauce to more places in fewer trips. We're here on Smallknot because we thought it would be a wonderful way for us to connect with our customers and community.

Here's how it works -- Smallknot is way for local people to invest in neighborhood small businesses in exchange for goods and services and all the great special perks we're offering! But we have to raise the whole $3,000 to get the funding. We'd love your help getting there.

What you can get!

We are offering some great returns to our investors, including a sample pack of sauces that we can ship to you with a variety of flavors, a gift basket with a ton of authentic Vietnamese ingredients, food tours of Chinatown hosted by us to show you the best spots for Vietnamese food and even a BBQ party in our lovely backyard in Cobble Hill -- we promise it will be an event to remember!
