Eat Pottery Lessons

I started here in 2006 when the space was still a record store and coffee shop. I took over the coffee shop part of it and that was when I started doing local food. Since then, we’ve evolved into a truly local restaurant. Everything here is sourced locally, seasonally. In addition to using local food products, all of our furniture, plates and fixtures are made by local artisans. We believe that the local movement should not stop at food, but be applied to all objects that are a part of our lives.

Eat Greenpoint

EAT is both a restaurant and a kind of conceptual art. It’s a true experiment in living locally – we even make the serving ware in our own backyard. We get everything at local farms and markets during the summer months, but we make locally sourced food all year long. We love all of the seasons and find that even the winter can be just as exciting as the summertime so long as you prepare for it. EAT is a small space for just about 30 people, intimate and warm and homey. We serve lunch, brunch and dinner all year round, and we sell pottery, Sagittario olive oil, and handcrafted wooden cookware.

WHY WE’RE ON SMALLKNOT

Handmade pottery is a dying art, and we don’t want to see it go! There’s more that’s being lost than just a tradition—it’s getting together and sharing an afternoon with your friends while crafting something unique. I want to raise $5,000 to buy a kiln and turn EAT into a space for pottery. With your support, EAT will be able to offer pottery sessions, all supplies provided, so you can hand craft and then glaze your own pottery in our backyard.
