Our new 'fridge is on the way!

After the campaign ended, we took a look at our budget, selected a different refrigerator model, and did some price negotiation. With your help, you covered 50% of the cost, and BOE is putting in the other half - pretty cool!

The fridge is now ordered and on the way, and we expect to have it delivered, installed, and all stocked up in the tasting room by December 14th! I can’t wait to fill it up with goodies.

I’ll keep you posted as we make progress, and we’ll soon get started on redeeming your rewards!

End of our Campaign

Dear BOE Fridge Investors,

This has been one hell of a week. I hope you and yours are safe after Sandy; all of us at BOE are thinking of everyone who are suffering in her aftermath.

Considering that the storm occurred during our last week of our campaign, we discontinued actively soliciting contributions toward our refrigerator. We asked SmallKnot if they would be willing to allow us to receive the funds we did raise, even though we didn't reach our entire goal.

SmallKnot has asked that we receive permission from each of you, before they go ahead and charge the monies you contributed to your credit cards, since you had agreed to contribute inside the original arrangement, which was that BOE would not receive the funds unless our whole $6,000 goal was raised.

If I might ask it of you, would you please send an email to myself, at ashaper@brooklynoenology.com, and copy ben@smallknot.com, with a statement that you are willing to have your credit card charged for the Brooklyn Oenology campaign. I greatly appreciate it, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you at the classes and tastings you've signed up for, and to delivery the goodies you've invested in.

'Fridge Crowd Funding Party Nov. 1

Hello BOE Fridge Investors!

Thanks so very much to all of you for contributing to our refrigerator fund - I truly appreciate your commitment to BOE and your generosity.

I would like to invite all of you to our Fundraising Party at the Tasting Room this Thursday, November 1st, from 7 to 11 PM. We're having an all-night Happy Hour with 2-for-1 glasses of BOE wines and complimentary snacks. It's not only a thank you for all of you, it's also a rally to get more people signed up to invest! If you know anyone who's been thinking about investing, or who doesn't know about our campaign yet and who would be interested in supporting BOE, please bring them along.

I will personally be on hand to answer any questions about the investment choices and rewards, and about the use of the contributions and why we're crowd funding.

As you know, we have to raise the entire $6,000 goal in order to receive any of the monies you fine folks have put towards the fridge - so spread the word, and bring some friends, and I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

We must reach our goal of $6,000; if we are one dollar short, we receive none of the funds. Give our wines, beers, and foods a good chilly home at our all-local BOE Winery Tasting Room - with new refrigeration!

Our small merchandising refrigerator, which I frugally bought used when I first opened the Tasting Room, has died and gone to refrigerator heaven. Our low-boy 'fridge is now overstuffed!

A new 3-door refrigerator will replace the merchandising space we used to have for our cold wines, meats, and cheeses for sale. This upgrade will provide additional room to more effectively showcase our new beers for sale.

Your assistance will help us finance the unexpected replacement of a major piece of equipment, without resorting to a credit card purchase and paying additional interest over months.

Our Story

The Brooklyn Oenology Winery Tasting Room is where you can visit us to taste and purchase our entire lineup of New York wines, and have a truly all-local experience in drink, food, and art.

I started Brooklyn Oenology Winery in 2006, with the idea to create a set of wines that celebrate the agricultural, culinary, and artistic worlds that intersect in Brooklyn. To do that, I committed to using only grapes grown in New York, and we collaborate with Brooklyn-based artists to grace our labels with their work to highlight all the amazing talent in our borough.

BOE started out as a one-woman, two-wine operation, with yours truly visiting wine shops and restaurants hand-selling wine all over the city. For the winery's first three years, we sold directly to wholesale accounts, growing the number of wines we make, and gaining fans all over town.

In Fall 2010, we realized our dream of opening our Winery Tasting Room, a place where anyone could come to taste all of our now 11 wines, and enjoy rotating art shows of works by each of our label artists.

Not only do we want to share our love of winemaking with our neighbors, we're also dedicated to spreading the word and educating folks about all things fermented in New York. We offer an ever-changing guest selection of locally-made wines, whiskeys, bourbons, gins, vodkas, from all over the state. Just recently we added NY beers - which rounds us out into all three major categories of beverage!

And it doesn’t stop there! You can also pick up NY-made meats, cheeses, jams, sauces, pickles, and snacks to go, or chow down on something to pair with all these great local libations.
